How do I enter into Ihram for Hajj on behalf of someone else?
When performing Hajj on behalf of another person, the intention (niyyah) must be clearly stated:
“I am entering into Ihram for Hajj and reciting the Talbiyah on behalf of [person’s name].”
Only one person can be intended per Hajj.
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s sake and avoids wrongdoing will return free from sins as if newly born.” (Bukhari)
This highlights the عظمت (great virtue) of Hajj and the reward gained when performed sincerely—even on behalf of others.
