What are some examples of actions that would require Damm?

- Tamattu’ and Qiran Hajj: Tamattu’ Hajj: When a pilgrim performs both Umrah and Hajj in one trip but with separate Ihram for each, they must perform a Qurbani after completing the rituals of Hajj.
  Qiran Hajj: When a pilgrim performs both Umrah and Hajj together in one Ihram, they are required to offer a Qurbani.
- Violations During Ihram: Violating Restrictions: If a pilgrim commits certain violations while in the state of Ihram (the sacred state in which Muslims perform Hajj or Umrah), such as cutting hair, clipping nails, using perfume, or engaging in prohibited activities, they may be required to offer a Qurbani as expiation.
- Skipping Obligatory Actions: Omitting Obligatory Acts: If a pilgrim misses any of the obligatory acts of Hajj, they might be required to perform a Qurbani to compensate for the omission.
- Hajj Mufradah: Delay in Tawaf and Sa’i: If a pilgrim performing Hajj Mufradah (Hajj performed separately, not during the designated Hajj months) delays the Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba) and Sa’i (walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah) without a valid reason, they may need to offer a Qurbani.

Which animal will be sacrificed?

Sheep or Goat: One sheep or goat can be sacrificed for one person. These animals must be at least one year old and in good health.

Cow or Camel: A cow or camel can be shared by seven people. The cow must be at least two years old, and the camel must be at least five years old. Both must also be in good health.

The sacrificed animals should be free from any defects, such as blindness, sickness, lameness, or other significant physical deformities, to be considered acceptable for the Qurbani. The act of sacrifice is typically carried out on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, which is the Day of Eid al-Adha, and it can also be done on the following two days, known as the Days of Tashreeq (the 11th and 12th of Dhul-Hijjah).
